Melbourne Model Railway Society

Melbourne Model Railway Society Melbourne Model Railway Society is an association of people who are passionate about model railways. There are many collections of members of the club – Australian and Victoria as well as other States, American as well as British. Their primary HO scale club layout is predominantly Australian and, as such, the majority of their events feature Australian rolling stocks. The club does not have theme nights. can run whatever rolling stock and locomotives they like. They are situated in the old storage area for goods underneath Auburn Station, opposite the ticketing machines. The station is situated inside Melbourne, Australia.

Visitors and prospective members are always invited. If you’re just beginning to get into the hobby or would like to become more involved, come on over one evening.

The layout of their stations comprises six stations as well as two branches. The layout is a complete layout and can run as a continuous circuit and bypass both terminal stations. In the majority of nights, they operate in accordance with a timetable. The two branches are not mandatory, and can only run when there are sufficient members to run as a pair with the stations. If they are able to have a large number of members, they’ll have four drivers who control each train, and the station masters will only perform local shunting, and setting up routes and signals for the drivers.

As previously mentioned, they host themed evenings at least once per month. Because their layout is mostly Australia themed and has a strong rural vibe, the majority of evenings are hosted with Australian railways as well as rolling equipment. Although many themed nights reflect this, they also have American and British themed nights, and can also have a specific the era, of steam, diesel or evenings. Whilst members can bring their own locomotives and rolling stock at any time themed nights provide a fantastic chance to show off your favorite locomotives. If you don’t have anything but you’re welcome to bring something else.

They are fortunate to have a suitable location to set up their design. The long-disused storage space beneath Auburn Station provides plenty of space for their current layout. Auburn Station is on the suburban Belgrave/Lilydale/Alamein lines in Melbourne, Australia. The suburb that the station is located in is Hawthorn East. The station is one minute walk away from Auburn Road, just north of Burwood Road. The entryway into the lounge is through an entrance that’s located in front of machine for selling tickets beneath the platforms. There is a sign over the door, with “MMRS” on it. This is the clubroom.
